From the Inbox— Do you have this problem, too?

Dear Reader,

Just yesterday I received an email from an incredible teacher in Utah who had this problem.

During whole-class novel reading, one student skimmed ahead the book's first chapter and proceeded to tell other students before the class had a chance to read the chapter for themselves.

Have you ever had this problem?

Here's what I told this teacher.

"In that situation, I would turn it into a win-win. Obviously, this kid is a superstar and I would interview them in the target language about the chapter. NOT to embarrass him or her, but to allow him or her to show off their abilities. Then I would say something like, 'Wasn't that awesome?' in the target language and follow up with, 'Okay, let's read for the details!' Also in the target language."

I'd love to know if any of you have had this issue and how you have handled it or might have handled it if it happened to you. Please let me know in the comments below.
